What agreements are involved in my use of the Ma Earth platform, and where can I find them?

Land stewards, host partners, and donors utilizing the Ma Earth platform will enter into some or all of the following agreements:

• Terms and Conditions: For all users of Ma Earth, between you and Ma Earth Labs AG, which operates the platform. These terms and conditions govern your use of the platform, how donations are processed through Stripe, and what Ma Earth Labs is and is not responsible for.
• Privacy Policy: Ma Earth Labs AG's description of how it collects and processes your personal data. Between all users of Ma Earth and Ma Earth Labs AG.
• Stripe agreement: Directly between all users and Stripe. General Terms apply to every user of Stripe services and are not governed by Ma Earth.
• Terms of Participation: Between Ma Earth Foundation and an organization whose project has been selected in a funding round (or their host partner). These terms set out the framework under which the Foundation may, at its sole discretion, award a matching grant, and what the selected organization commits to in return. Note: If a project is hosted, the host partner accepts the Terms, not the project.
• Host Partner Framework Agreement: Between Ma Earth Foundation and a host partner. This agreement sets out the terms on which a host partner receives donations and grants as its own charitable funds, supports the projects it hosts, and takes responsibility for due diligence, reporting, and proper use of those funds.

  • Sub-agreement: Between a host partner and the project it passes funds on to. This agreement can govern how the funds are to be used, what the project reports back, and on what grounds the arrangement can be terminated, etc. This sub-agreement is made directly between a project and their host partner; Ma Earth is not a party.
• Grant letter: The written confirmation of the final amount granted (matching funds + bonus funds + any donations for your project we have received outside of the platform). This letter is sent by email to the project or host partner when matching funds have been sent. Hosted projects do not receive a grant letter, but a notification that their host has been paid out.

Where can I download a copy of my Host Partner Framework Agreement or Terms of Participation?

• For land stewards working with a host partner: If your host partner has uploaded your sub-agreement to their Ma Earth dashboard, you can download that from your payouts tab. If not, you will need to contact your host partner directly to request a copy of your agreement.
• For land stewards who do not have a host partner: You can download your Terms of Participation agreement from your applications page on Ma Earth.
