# Community Guidelines

What content is allowed on Ma Earth?

#### What content is allowed on Ma Earth, and how to report content that violates our Community Guidelines

Ma Earth connects land stewards who care for the living world with people who want to support them.

In order for all projects on the platform to thrive, it is vital that everyone in the Ma Earth community can trust what they see, feel safe taking part, and support and share projects with confidence.

**Learn more about other ways our technology and app build trust:**

* [Trusted Evaluators>>](/resources-for-trusted-evaluators/about-trusted-evaluators.md)
* [Endorsements>>](/resources-for-trusted-evaluators/endorsements.md)

These guidelines apply to all content shared on Ma Earth, including project stories, updates, photos and videos, and user profiles. They are designed to protect land stewards, donors, host partners, and evaluators alike.

#### Real stories welcome

Land stewards are invited to share their work in their own words. Donors discover meaningful stories. Trusted evaluators verify that these actions are taking place as and where claimed.

All members of the Ma Earth community treat each other with respect and curiosity—across diverse languages, cultures, and landscapes.

#### What doesn't belong on Ma Earth

The following kinds of content break our community guidelines. If you see something like this, you can report it, and our team will review the post.

**Spam**\
*Repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional content.*

This includes posting the same message over and over, filling project updates or comments with unrelated links, or using Ma Earth to advertise products or services unrelated to the project.

**Scam or fraud**\
*Fake fundraising, or asking for money outside Ma Earth.*

This covers made-up projects or organizations, and any attempt to trick people into giving. It also covers asking supporters to send money through other channels, such as a personal payment app, a bank transfer, or a link to another site. Funding is intentionally channeled through Ma Earth so that donations can be tracked, matched, and accounted for properly.

**False or misleading impact claims**\
*Inaccurate claims about a project's land, results, or use of funds.*

Supporters give because they believe in the work, so honesty is key. Avoid overstating numbers (ie. hectares restored, trees planted, or species returned or making intentionally misleading claims about your use funds. Circumstances and timelines shift, and that's okay. Just keep supporters updated when that happens.

**Hate, abuse, or harassment**\
*Slurs, threats, or abusive language targeting a person or group.*

Content that attacks someone for who they are—including their race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or nationality—is not welcome on Ma Earth. The same goes for bullying, intimidation, or repeated unwanted contact.

**Violent or graphic content**\
*Violence, gore, or animal cruelty.*

Regeneration work sometimes involves hard realities, like damaged land or loss of animal or plant life. However, documentation of harm does not shock, glorify suffering, or display animal cruelty. Please keep what you share free of graphic violence.

**Impersonation**\
*Pretending to be another person or organization.*

Do not set up profiles, projects, or messages that imply you are someone you're not, whether that's a land steward, a host partner, an evaluator, a donor, or a member of the Ma Earth team. Trust is the foundation of this platform, and it depends on people representing themselves truthfully.

**Private information**\
*Posting someone's personal details without consent.*

This includes names, contact information, home addresses, financial details, or photos that identify people who haven't agreed to be shared. It also includes sensitive location information, such as the exact location of vulnerable sites or species, when sharing it could put people or places at risk. When in doubt, leave it out.

**Sexual content**\
*Nudity or sexual content.*

Ma Earth is a space for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about and support nature projects. Please keep what you post free of nudity and sexually explicit material.

**Self-harm or suicide**\
*Promoting or encouraging self-harm.*

This platform is meant to support and promote the well-being of people and places. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a local crisis line or emergency services in your area, or to someone you trust.

**Intellectual property**\
*Using photos or work without permission.*

Images, videos, writing, music, and maps belong to the people who made them. Please only share content you created or have clear permission to use, and credit the people whose work you're sharing. Giving credit to the people doing and documenting the work helps to build trust.

**Something else**\
Not sure whether something fits one of the categories above? If something feels off but doesn't fit one of the above categories, you can still tell us. When you report it, you'll have a chance to explain what you're seeing in your own words.

#### How to report something

If you come across content that breaks these guidelines, select "report," choose the reason that fits best, or select "something else." You can provide additional details in the next step to help expedite our team's review process.

#### What happens next

Our team reviews each report with care. When content or behavior breaks our community guidelines, we may remove it, limit what an account can do on the platform, or close the account. If you have reported content, we will let you know when a decision has been reached.

#### Questions?

If you're unsure if your own content is in alignment with these guidelines, you can [contact us](https://maearth.com/contact) to check.

Thank you for being part of the Ma Earth community, and for helping to create a space rooted in care for people and nature.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.maearth.com/ma-earth/our-technology/community-guidelines.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
