# Project Updates

If you are participating in a [funding round](/resources-for-land-stewards/about-funding-rounds.md), your project updates through your project dashboard go straight to supporters' inboxes and keep them connected to the work you're doing.

**As part of your agreement with Ma Earth, please be sure to post at least one project update per year (also referred to as your annual report in your Terms of Participation).** You can of course post as often as you wish! Use images, videos, data, and storytelling to make your update as rich as possible.

If you are not currently in a funding round, you can still post project updates; this is a great way to show your momentum and support your chances of being accepted to a future funding round.

**Important: You don't have to wait until the project is "finished" to share updates. People love to see the journey.**

#### Some general suggestions for engaging your supporters through project updates:

* Speak to what you and/or the land are experiencing right now
* Include specific details (names, species, numbers, sensory observations)
* Show your progress through photos or video when possible
* Consider sharing about the project the way you would with a friend (ie. anecdotes, challenges, and celebrations)
* Incorporate community testimonials, feedback, or reflections

**What you might want to share with supporters:**

* What's the status of the project?
* What does it look like on the ground?
* Who are the people participating?
* What challenges are you facing?
* What's going well?

#### How often should I send updates?

* During campaign: Weekly if possible
* During project implementation: Monthly, and more often at major milestones
* When you feel like sharing: Anytime

#### How long should updates be?

If you have a lot to say, it might be as much as 2-3 paragraphs (150-300 words), but it can also be as short as a quick sentence and a photo.

Sharing a project update should feel as easy as posting on social media. You can also share video (30 seconds to 3 minutes is great) or a selection of photos.

Short is sweet. We value consistency and hearing your voice, even if it's a quick note.

#### Remember:

Many supporters will want to know how the regeneration journey is going for you, what you're seeing, what's challenging you, and what's bringing you joy. Share stories as you would with your community. It can be a gift to include your supporters in this way.
