# Endorsements

What does it mean to endorse an organization?

**An endorsement is a public statement that a trusted evaluator knows and trusts an organization on the Ma Earth platform, and that the organization does the work it claims to do.**

### **For Trusted Evaluators**

When you endorse an organization, you're telling donors: "I know this organization. They're real, and they can be trusted."

**Endorsing an organization means:**

1. You know the organization exists and operates where they claim
2. The people running it are who they say they are
3. The organization has a track record of doing the work described in their profile

**An endorsement is not a promise that every project run by that organization will be a success.** You can endorse as many organizations as you want, so it's not about choosing the "best" organization, but rather indicating your trust in each organization you know and vouch for.

#### When should I endorse an organization?

**Endorse when you have direct knowledge:**

* You've worked with the organization directly
* You've visited their sites or observed their work
* You have first-hand evidence they do what they claim
* You trust them based on sustained relationship and track record

**Don't endorse based on:**

* Their website or materials alone
* Unverified second-hand reports
* Pressure from the organization

**Only endorse organizations you actually know and trust.**

#### What do donors see when I make an endorsement?

When you endorse an organization, your endorsement appears on their Ma Earth profile, and donors can see your organization and logo on their profile page.

**This helps donors assess credibility by seeing who vouches for the organization.**

#### Can I remove an endorsement?

Circumstances change. If an organization's work or leadership changes, or you learn information that affects your trust, you can remove your endorsement:

1. Visit your profile, where you can see the organizations you've endorsed
2. Click on the organization you wish to update to navigate to their profile
3. Select "Remove endorsement" and confirm the change.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.maearth.com/resources-for-trusted-evaluators/endorsements.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
